The apps

A native st client for iPhone and Android — machines, sessions, and a terminal with keys a phone has not got.

There are four ways onto a session: a desktop browser, the desktop app, a phone's browser, and these apps. The phone's browser is enough to reach a session now and then. The apps are for when you do it every day: they remember your machines, list the sessions on each, and put a terminal on the screen with a key bar sitting on the keyboard.

What they join is a session on your computer. You start it there with st, leave it open, and the app is one more screen on it, next to the terminal it was started in.

One session on the computer and the phone: the terminal starts it and stays in it, and the app joins and carries on.

Features

  • Machines. Add a computer once — scan the QR st prints, paste its link, or type the address and token — and it stays in the list, with whether it is online and, when it is not, why and when it was last seen.
  • Sessions and windows. Every tmux session on that machine, then its windows, each with the program running in it; a button for a new one of each.
  • Terminal. A real terminal on the session, with a key bar for ctrl, alt, esc, tab, arrows and the multiplexer's own actions: next window, new window, zoom, and the rest.
  • Voice and compose. Dictate into the terminal, or write a longer prompt in a sheet and send it as one message.
  • Agents. With the hooks installed, what Claude Code or Codex is doing in each session, a notification when one needs you, and one Live Activity (iPhone) or Live Update (Android) for the whole account.
  • Chat and workers. The agent's conversation as messages you can read and answer, the Agents chart of who handed work to whom, and adopting an agent as another's worker (Orchestration), workers on the account's other machines included.
  • Documents and files. Documents agents hand over with st doc, previews of paths in the terminal, a pane's git changes, and GitHub Actions runs.
  • Themes. Dark by default, Light, or following the system; four terminal themes plus the ones imported to your account in the desktop app or the browser; the Meslo Nerd Font; your own font size and cursor shape.
  • An account, if you want one. Signing in lists the machines on your sophonz account. Everything else works without it.

Nothing runs on the phone but the client. The machine still runs st, the session still lives in tmux there, and the app attaches to it the same way a browser does — so a session you started at the desk is the one you pick up on the phone.

Getting them

Both apps are in beta. The Android app is on Google Play, and the iPhone app on TestFlight.

In either app, Settings → Guide and about opens First run in the app and these docs in the phone's language.

Each platform

The guides go through the same steps, with screenshots from each phone.
